Ode To Twitter: #followfriday by @lunaraven13

Okay I admit it.

I am one of the Twitter faithful.

I was actually told by my producer, the creator/owner/QBF of RadioDenatata, @RadioDentata to join. Not asked. Told.

I can be strangely resistant to things sometimes, still it didn't take long for me to be welcomed into the Twitter fold as Frankie introduced me to her friends. She and I have been friends for many years, so of course, I trust her implicitly. If she says your cool, you must be!

If you have been warmly welcomed to a wonderful party, then you know what it is like to be loved and accepted as soon as you step through the door. I love Twitter and have learned a great deal since joining.

To my ultimate delight, I have been lucky enough to encounter some amazing people I would not have encountered in my daily life. Don't believe me? Here's the skinny on some of my tweeps:

@danieljenkins, an amazing fashion photographer with incredible insight and a great sense of humor.

@boycaught introduced me to and kept us up on the Superbowl

@Eclectopedic always makes me laugh, even if she isn't trying.

@RogueAles makes an awesome Chocolate Stout (and Sebbie let me ambush interview her :) )

@myteacups always has awesome tea recommendations (keep your eyes peeled, as she will be popping up on my blog)

Last, but absolutely not least, my friend @sh3n3rd is a wonderfully brilliant, beautiful, amazingly talented designer and all around doll.

I am also following Barbara Sher, Neil Gaiman and a lot of food, wine, beverage makers and writers. This makes Twitter great for social networking, yet also gives one the chance to make real friends.

There are a lot more people I enjoy regularly on twitter, so if nayone feels left out, just give me a shout! I love all my tweeps and just chose a few at random.

Addictive? Sure. Fun? Absolutely! Informative? Daily. Twitter has enchanted m,y life (and annoyed my longtime SO, @saschaillyvich) so why not join and see what treasures you find?

Luna’s Pick of the Day: Fentimans Soda

Oh how fun! That is just what this soda company is! This a great group of people with a wonderful product. With six brilliant flavors (plus Tonic) there is something here for everyone. Choose from Ginger Beer, Victorian Lemonade (boasting 1 1/2 lemons per bottle), Mandarin & Seville Orange, Shandy (a tradtional brew with 70% beer) and my two favorites, the Curiosity Cola and the Dandelion & Burdock.

I found the Mandarin a bit on the bitter side for me. The Lemonade is very refreshing and the Shandy was a very interesting drink. You sort of expect it to taste like beer, instead of a cool light Lemonade. Curiosity Cola, to me, tastes as I imagine it did when my dad was a kid. Since he was born in 1917, that was a long time ago! The Dandelion & Burdock satisfies my taste for the unusual and the old fashioned.

Napoleon Veltri was nice enough to give me an interview, so I hope that you enjoy it! This product should be hitting shelves within the next month, so remember, you heard it here first!

Sweet Tamales

My former roomate's mother is a wonderful cook. She came over one night and made all sorts of treats while I stood next to her, notebook in hand.

I listened attentively to what she said and took notes. She grew up in Mexico & this was one of her favorite treats as a girl.

5 lb masa
1 can evaporated milk
1 box brown sugar
2 c raisins
1 can crushed pineapple
1 bag of tamale husks, soaked overnight

Place masa in a large bowl with all the other ingrediants (except tamale husks.) Mix together w/clean hands until combined thoroughly.

Decide how much you want to place in each husk. Divide mix, roll into husks and steam 1 1/2-2 hours.

Luna's Pick of the Day: Marshmallows a Deux

I have an obsession. It stems from childhood and became worse the first time I discovered I could make these amazing, fluffy pillowy squares myself. In childhood, these things were white and sometimes had a slightly tough consistancy. I never cared about that.

For me, be it marshmallow frosting or gooey in ice cream, the flavor is something that beckons me from sad to happy in an instant.

Plush Puffs come in six flavors. My favorite: the Lemon Meringue. Lightly toasted over an open flame, I am entranced by the magical soft puffing, the scent of lemons and the feel in my mouth both hot and tender. Ah.....this is starting to sound a bit pornographic!

I actually liked these as much as the last ones I reviewed, so there you have it. I cannot and will not choose between them....tell you what we'll get both and just have some s'mores!

Ah what ever will we get our lover for Valetine's day? Lingere? Dinner? Wine? Well, my Valentine is getting chocolate from Coco-Luxe. Champagne, Rose with White Chocolate, Devils Food Cake? Hell yeah!

Not to mention that I got to try the Butter Caramels (oh heaven, thy name is caramel.) Stayed tuned as next week I will be doing an interview with Stephanie, the owner and creator of Coco-Luxe. Until then, jump on line or check them out at the Boutique. You will be glad you did!

Tell 'em Luna sent you!
